The name says it all Unity Through Community.
It is expected be the defining LGBT event of the Democratic National Convention.
The party will celebrate the indomitable spirit of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community across the country, as well as right here in the Carolinas. LGBT Americans and their straight allies are expected to attend the public party to support equality and unity.
Attendees are expected to include prominent members of the North Carolina LGBT community, LGBT delegates to the Democratic National Convention, business leaders, elected officials, celebrities, family, friends and supporters of LGBT citizens.
The Unity party will send a strong, positive message: Loving acceptance is the norm and there is no place for hate in our state.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the entertainment lineup has changed, and now includes Kristine W, the international recording artist named one of Billboard's artists of the decade.
She'll be joined by:
Suzanne Westenhoefer: The first openly gay comedian to appear on television with features on Letterman, HBO, Bravo, Logo and GSN among others.
DJ Justin Ryan: Justin has quickly become one of the most sought after acts. He is known for his uplifting vocals and alluring melodic mixes. The international DJ was named best up and coming DJ by JustCircuit Magazine.
Lindsay Katt: The singer/songwriter has received acclaim both from her deeply devoted fans, as well as the commercial world of pop. Her work has been featured on MTV's "The Real World" and "Teen Mom," and ABC's "Castle."
The Carrie Marshall Band: Carrie Marshall's piano and vocal style is reminiscent of other piano pop songstresses such as Adele, Norah Jones and Diana Krall.
Access to our the event during the potential traffic/security of the Democratic National Convention is not expected to be a problem. Unity will take place at the North Carolina Dance Theatre, at the corner of 10th and Tryon, away from the Convention Center and heavy-duty security perimeter. We'll have ample parking too.
Dress code for the Unity party? We're going for casual chic, which is open to interpretation, but here's a tip: Leave the flip-flops at home.
